What you need

tsp salt

cup white corn tortillas

tsp baking powder

tbsp olive oil
Instructions
0 In a large bowl, add masa harina, baking powder, salt. 1 Mix and add half the water. 2 Continue mixing. 3 Add 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil. 4 Mix again and gradually add the remaining water until a soft dough forms. 5 The dough will resemble wet sand. 6 Cover with plastic wrap for 10 minutes. 7 With wet hands, roll out 6 masa balls the size of a baseball. 8 Gently pat the balls to form the gorditas. 9 If the edges crack, smooth out by rubbing water over the ends. 10 Place on a plate and cover while you form the rest of the gorditas. Frying Method: 11 Heat ¼ cup oil in a skillet. 12 Fry the gorditas for 2 minutes on each side. 13 Set on a paper towel to drain any excess fat. Griddle Method: 14 Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil on a griddle. 20 Cook gordita for 2 minutes on each side. 15 Using a serrated knife, cut in half to make a pocket. 16 Add fillings. 17 Enjoy.View original recipe
